I keep on reading through this and it is giving me so much motivation to get my 6' stock tank build started. I am going with pretty much your original pond Andy. You shouls go check out the plans!
 
was wondering how difficult it would be to put a viewing glass/acrylic in the center of the stone wall?

It wouldn't be very difficult. I wouldn't have gone with a liner if I did though. You would basically go about doing it the same as people do with diy tanks. I would have liked a window but I needed this pond to be cheap sense I am planning on a much larger project to house them for life

So, I have my final idea for my large cat (soon to be cats), pbass, aro, and pacu. I am going to build a 20'x16'x10'tall greenhouse to surround a 12'x12'x5' inground pond. This will also be an aviary for some possible Toucans and Parrots. So stoked to get it started!
