ah so I was putting silicone on my piece of pvs to stick sand to it and the bottom of the silicone tube broke open and I didnt no it and I had half a tube covered all over my hand... lol, i was peeling silicone off my hand for hourssssss. good thing is, is that the pvc looks really good though. Brittani and I went to go see the Lincoln Laywer and I was sitting there peeling balls of silicone off my fingers and throwing it at people haha. p.s. this movie is a must see!!!

I don't have hard wood floors but can pull a corner of carpet up with vice grips. That's an interesting theory. Can anyone confirm this is a sure fire way to determine the support's running direction?

No, most cases it does not work even with hardwood floors. Biggest percent of residential housing have the floor joists topped with either 4x8' plywood or some type of compressed particle board. Newer constructed homes will have even the hardwood flooring placed atop this. You may be able to determine which way the joists run by looking at the nail patterns, this will require pulling up the carpet though.

Well this is residential apartments. I'm not sure how old they are but they are definitely not new. I think I'm going to just snag a 55 gallon to be safe. I only really need the second tank to separate my damn JD from my O. The tank is plenty big enough (125 gallons 30 gallon sump) but my JD is harassing my O and it's spreading his pectoral fins.

I just realized while rereading this thread you plan on doing Bala Shark for your dither? I would strongly recommend not doing a school of Bala Shark. They are very similar to Tinfoil Barbs. Like to be kept in schools, are very fast easily spooked swimmers, and can grow up to 16" long. I would discourage them in this tank not because of bioload rather the length of the tank. I wouldn't do a school of them in anything less than 8' long.

This is just IMO so of course final decision goes down to you and best of luck if you do still go with Bala Shark.

Also looking forward to seeing pics of this tank filled up. Hope your floor doesn't have a hole in it yet. j/k

Well its all filled up, I got my filters running the plants in and everything. I didnt have to prime my eheim lol it primed itself cuz Im cool like that ;). So heres the pics and a couple randoms of my moms cat monkey watching the fish in my 55g last night. Oh and my floors a beast its still perfectly hard.
