Hey Everyone!
Well, I currently have 2-20g a 55g and just picked up a used 150g yesterday. I got it cheap do to it had a very small leak on one of the corners. The guy I got it from did some simple silicone puttying in the corner, did not fix it, but slowed it I believe he said. I was planning on removing most of the corners old silicone then adding a good bead to the corner, after cleaning it well.

I read the sticky on "silicone sealant comparisons" but was a bit confused as to what would be the ideal product to use, or just any 100% silicone product?

I am also going to be building a stand for it. I have built my own stand for my 55g and it is working great. I hope to make this post my project post for this 150 setup.

Something I was wondering about. This tank has very large solid aluminum frame as its base. This tank is about 350-400 pounds. Heaver than other 150s I have dealt with. Still built with 1/2" glass but man, it was a pain to move.

Anyways, I will be unloading it later today and will snap some shots of it, and of my progress. I will be taking my time to do it right, but will have lots of questions as I go on. Such as filters (thinking a large sump), lighting, ect.. I am planning on housing discus after I get it all setup and levels perfect. I was going to do them in my 55, but it is just too small and ended up with a parasite problem that I am worried about, even after treatment. SO, Thanks for anyone willing to share advice and comments as I go on in this project!

After reading the entire post on silicone:popcorn:, I have made my choice...

I will use the Dow 1200 primer with 732 silicone in all the corners. Today I looked at the tank again, there really is not much silicone visible on the inside of the joints to remove so, will just do the whole tank in one shot to really finish it up and get it ready for use.

Also, will post a pic as soon as I can, but on the top rim (plastic bracket around the top) on the ends, there is a place where it looks like it was fused together, it is not one piece, is this going to be a problem? It's not broke, it is that way from the factory. As I said, will get a pic of it soon to help show what I am talking about.

Here are the pics:
This is only on the ends, other than that it is has no breaks.

Here is the design I came up with for my stand. Will post images of it's progress as I begin to build it.

Below is the 50 gallon tall sump, and other filters that may be used (UV & ect.)

You can't see the image? It's showing on my screen. Hmm, I will attach it. See if that works.

During the planning of this setup, I have made my mind up that I am going to make my own 3D background with the standard method of styrofoam with cement over it. But, as always I have a few questions! :D

1) I have seen many people use the normal styrofoam, the white kind that is compressed styro balls. But, I use polystyrene (usually pink at home depot/lowes) for my carvings in models and prefer it over the basic white kind, but, is it safe for use in this way? I am 99% sure it is, but just wanted to make sure!

2) I also use the expanding foam (great stuff brand). I have seen one DIY project online where they used this for a background but does anyone know if it really is ok to use for aquariums? Once again, I would bet it is, but would like to be 100% sure before I go a do it.

Any help would be great!
