My 18" L191

How sure are you that this fish is "L191" or do you think it is a "peru green" or "shampupa". They are no doubt similar, do you think they are the same fish?

It's difficult for me to distinguish for L191 & Peru Green adult. I also beleived that L191 & Peru Green are the same, just the living zone is different. One thing that I can tell you that my fish is imported from Columbia.:screwy:

I have seen a Shampupa pleco at this size and also own one myself. I would say that these are definitely two different species. The Shampupa, even at that size, has a striking yellow edging along its tail. I'm sure they are very closely related, and might be able to possibly interbreed if in an unnatural environment. However, its probably like the big cats of africa who are able to interbred, but no one disputes the fact that lions and tigers are different species. Or perhaps the RTC and the TSN. A DNA profile is really probably the only way to actually tell how closely these guys are related.
