My 180 gallon project

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Heh, I have a cat in my tank in the first pic of my 125 gallon thread.

Let me know how the sand works out for you. Is there a reasonably priced source for black sand for a tank that big?

"BTW this was my very first attempt, thoughts?"

Ummm I'm confused... You built overflows _and_ plugged pre-existing holes?

Yeah I did it for a couple of reasons.

1. The holes were drilled from a previous owner and only 1/2" PVC fits into them so I wouldn't be able to get the desired flow.

2. I didn't want to use all 5, just plugged 2 holes an used 3 of them as emergency backups.

Yeah definitely, I might go with PFS because I don't feel like spending a dollar a lb for black.

Absolutely fantastic work. Congrats!

Thank you! :)

Got some more work done!

This will hold my bio-media and maybe some mechanical media. Still have to put something across the bottom to hold the media in place.

Ok so I had a little set back when I water tested my tank today. I put about 3 inches of water in it and found a small slow leak around one of my emergency drain holes. So i went ahead and leveled the tank while some water was in there then drained it and resealed the problem area. Sucker isn't gonna go anywhere this time. So time for another test on saturday night!
