My 187 gallon FOWLR

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I've changed a whole lot with this tank. The aquascape is much more open. I have a neon green sinularia. My anemone as it turns out is a Heteractis magnifica (which is still thriving under Normal Output fluorescents, having grown to the size of a dinner plate since I bought it in July. It hasn't bleached out either). I also changed up the stock. Here are the current fish:
1 Coral Beauty Angelfish (Centropyge bispinosa)*
2 Ocellaris Clownfish (Amphiprion ocellaris)**
1 Yellowtail Damselfish (Chrysiptera parasema)*
1 Blue Damselfish (Chrysiptera cyanea)*
1 Pajama Cardinalfish (Sphaeramia nematoptera)*
1 Banggai Cardinalfish (Pterapogon kauderni)* (hosts my anemone, which the clowns won't touch)
1 Lyretail Anthias (Pseudanthias squamipinnis)*
1 Purple Tang (Zebrasoma xanthurum)*
1 Powder Blue Tang (Acanthurus leucosternon)*
1 Blue Sided Fairy Wrasse (Cirrhilabrus cyanopleura)*
1 Melanurus Wrasse (Halichoeres melanurus)*
1 Red Squirrelfish (Sargocentron rubrum)*
1 Striped Squirrelfish (Sargocentron diadema)*
1 Coral Catshark (Atelomycterus marmoratus)* (he previously lived in a 75 gallon for 6 years, the people who had him tore their tank down and sold him to a LFS, where he lived in an 18" x 18" cube for the 3 months before I finally broke down and bought him. He's great with the little fish as long as he gets his 3 smelt and 3 cubes of shark formula a day. He also eats squid and shrimp)

I still plan on adding a purple photosynthetic gorgonian, some xenia, a couple different fairy wrasses, an African cleaner wrasse (which I have kept before), 3 yellow tangs, and a flame angelfish.

Update on my tank. Lots of changes have taken place. As you can see I've got some diatoms now, but that's because the tank is getting fed 5 times a day.

More fish have been added to the display, including the moorish idol that was in a quarantine when this video was taken.
