I wish I could work at my LFS. That's neat :)

The red lizard is too stinkin' cute!!! Glad he seems to have settled in well, and also glad that your viejita II is alive. Fish seem to love scaring us!

It's really nice, I thought it would be shy, but not at all.

I also saw at a lfs (not my work) a half banded spiny eel, I was 2 secs from buying it, then I saw they also has a red lizard and it hit me I'd ordered it at my work, so I went there and got this red lizard.

But I'm considering adding one of those spiny eels, this is supposedly one the smaller species, but I'm still worried it might eat my otos or Cory's...what do you think?

Here he is! Just took this picture.

What's really interesting to seems that the small cichlids are always swimming in between the plants.

Here's one of two females of the purple breasted cichlid

And another shot of this lizard, love this fish.

That's part of why I love having plants. Seeing the fish swim through them and lay in them and such.

I think an eel will be fine, I just wouldn't get one of the really big ones like the fire or tiretrack. The half-banded eel gets around a foot I believe.
They'll only eat what can fit in their mouths and they have fairly small mouths compared to their body. The cories and otos -should- be fine, possibly even moreso since it'll grow up with them.

I have a half-banded eel by the way :)

The ones I saw at the store was about 10-12 cm.

Do you have picture of yours?
Also should I get more than one?

He'll get bigger, but he's already bigger than mine. Mine is only ~7.5cm. Half-bandeds can be territorial so you do not need more than one. If you want a second eel though then try to introduce them at the same time.

That is why mine is temporarily in a 10g tank. I am waiting on another eel so I can put them both in our 129g. Unfortunately getting a hold of the other eel I want is proving difficult!

Yes I do have pictures :) I'll PM them to you so I don't clutter up your thread.

Thanks for the advice.

And I appreciate receiving them on PM.

The ones I saw at the lfs were very beautiful.
I just have to wait for a paycheck before I get them, already ruined my budget with new shoes and iPhone....

But I'm 99% certain I'll get one, I'm gonna go back on Monday see if they'll hold one for me for a week.
