My 190 gallon

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I hope the treatment goes well!

This sounds like a good idea. Hopefully you will like your nano more afterwards :) What size is it? Sorry if you have said before.

It's a 5 gallon.

I'll start tomorrow with emptying it, I'll sell the crabs and the adult red clawed shrimps. And the tiny baby shrimps will hopefully become angel food.

I might use it temporarily as a feeding tank for my small Bolivian ram, I worry that he isn't getting enough food.

And within 2-3 weeks I'll start getting supplies for the nano, need the read up on what I need and how to do it properly, I refuse to use co2 kits. I want to keep it rather simple and low maintenance.

I did find Pygmy dwarf goby available through our supplier, supposedly one of the smallest fish in the world.
Need to learn about it first though, I kinda want that.

Just found out that my two females and one male purple breasted acaras, are actually two males.

They go along so far, but might try to catch one and swap it for a female.

Did my water change, didn't clean my 2217 this week, I'm waiting for bags to hold substrate pro.

Want to add more biological filtration first.

Also, I'm using my warranty on my eheim uv light, one of the two has stopped working for some reason...

And possibly adding the diamond tetras this week, and maybe another red lizard catfish, but might go for another catfish entirely.

Also I'm going to be more actively using liquid carbo, supposedly it will help with algae.
I'm noticing some BBA on some plants... I might just borrow some SAE to deal with it.

I would probably try to swap one for a female, personally. Or just buy another female or two to add to the group.

Sorry your uv light stopped working, at least it's still in warranty!

I look forward to hopefully seeing the diamond tetras. I would definitely add more red lizard catfish and I was actually going to mention that to you. According to seriouslyfish they do like company :)

I hope you can get the BBA under control. I am having trouble with that in one of my tanks as well.

It's not bad, I only see it up close, but still want to get it in check before it gets worse.

I'll add 2 females and the red cat, it doesn't poop as much as other Plecos, so I'm happy.

Not sure how many tetras I'll add.

2 year warranty on the eheim, but still after only 2 months....

Quick update:

Decided to not feed my fish for a day or two, to make my SAE eat my BBA.
I'm currently half a day into that regiment.

Came home today after work, and found the weakest and smallest Bolivian ram dead.. This is the first fish I've found dead in the tank, usually they just disappear and get eaten by shrimps or other.

But this was sort of expected, he probably died of internal parasites, he wasn't eating much.
And I can't find a medicine suited to treat the whole tank, yet.

All other fish are healthy and made a full recovery from white spots.

Not sure if I'm going to replace it with another Bolivian ram, might just expand my rummy nose tetra stock.
Diamond tetras will be added in a week or so, still a bit undecided, might get cardinal tetras....or both, a small group of each..sort of want that strong red and blue color.

Also, the fx6 started to make a buzzing sound, was supposed to open it up today to get it fixed, but when I woke up today the sound went away, haven't heard this sound before and I'm thankful it's gone, I sleep in the same room as my tank and last couple of nights have been hard.

Also, my boss are trying to order for me something called sunriser.
It's a addition to my light fixture that you can program to turn lights off and on gradually.

Which is fascinating to me, considering I'm using t8 lights.
But it is designed to be used with a sunriser, it already has the wires set up, it just need this box to attach it to, that is called sunriser. Hopefully my fish will find this more relaxing compared to instant light and dark.
