THanks.
Unfortunetely i didn't take any photo when i got him before the experiment...but i stil remember at that time he was just got very clear black bands.

Thanks.
For me, how many bands are not a big issue, the main thing that i concerned are the coloration and the flowers developement.
Hope it will develop the flowers and become full flowers soon, haha.

About both maruloides & pleuro, i got it from the same LFS in Kepong. (Kuala Lumpur)

very good mate , this is confirming what we where thinking that the low ph water encourages the development of the flowers , where as many that are kept at ph7 and above have failed to develop decent flowers

cheers col
Thanks for reply.

Last long time i kept my maruloides in good water condition and feed them with variety of foods but in the end they got less or no developed the flowers, even became adult also got very less flowers...

But now with this "low ph and black water method" it finally got developed some flowers in just a juvie size (9-10 inches), i am very happy with it.

Last year I got 6 juv malaysian marulioides size 4". I keep it it cement tank like u, when it growth to 8-10", white scale all of them bloom! (I used to posted it on MFK if u remember). I don't know why but I think not only pH that effect it.
I want to keep like that time again but I cann't find a small juv marulioudes now.

i'm testing it out with my recent juvenile but in a plastic tank, low ph without any filteration...add a driftwood in it.

No filtration??
How can they withstand the nitrate spike or whatever that usually kills other fish due to poor maintenance..?
