the blond Oscar is not an albino but a lutino, this can be seen in the graying of the fins, true albinos do not have this, and IMHO rather have a lutino than an albino, albinos can have health issues and bad eye sight.
Agreed. A true albino wouldn't have color and especially not any gray. They're sold as albinos though--at least in big box pet stores. Perhaps because your average buyer doesn't know the difference and albino is a more familiar term?
Good point about the clown loaches. I caught my juvie albino tiger Oscar with a tail sticking out of her mouth and was able to catch her and shake one loose before she could swallow it.
