Is it normal for a Female Flowerhorn to keep beating up the Male whilst guarding the Eggs? he is doing his role well, she just seems a bit 'hormonal' haha
Male has been battered so i had to remove him, one of the females eyes got damaged and they both have marks from lip locking and zig zag liens on there bodys hmph!
The male is in with the Severums and Texas etc doign well but gettign picked on a little bit.
I left the female with her eggs, there is around 2-300 eggs maybe more, i have only seen about 5 white ones so far that have appeared today, hopefully they wont all go white.
There is small severum juvi in the Mother/Eggs partition that must of been in there all along, can't catch him tho! will try and get him out because i think she will eat him.
Also she is not coming up for a food today, maybe because she was beating on the male so much?
Ah well will keep you posted, and will back date the pictures and post them up when i get my new card reader.
How are they coming along? I think the stress bars are there because this was when they started courting/breeding because they havent left since, the female is now almost all black with neon blue speckles and the male is losing his bars now i have separated him.
Getting quite a few white eggs, so they might no all be fertilized properly.
here is my male, female and current tank shot, baring in mindthe male is going into my 9x3x3 later on in a partition away from my other fish. (i am quite attatched to my female tho, can thye go in cichlid communitys?)
Heres my breeding pair and current tank...
Male
Female
Tank
Are they coming on well?
Both are a nice fat 4" (maybe a little over) the female is seriously predatory and has a much bigger mouth, i bought a red tail black shark and put it in the divider sider and she suck its head off through the divider :O needless to say, im stickign to slighlty bigger tank mates now (even in the divider side)
