so i am just started my 200gal tank build so far this is were i am in the build and i am in the process of choosing my water proofing method
stand1.JPGthe stand construction
stand2.JPGhow the tank is supported, it sits on a box made of 2x4s on edge and across the box on face so all the pressure from the tank gets supported by pressing wood on wood (screws don't and shouldn't hold/support the weight of a tank, wood should always press down on another piece of wood)
stand3.JPGthe support for the back of the stand and the support under the floor of the stand

stand4.JPGanother view of the stand construction the center brace for front of stand
tank1.JPGhow i made the corner joints for the tank
tank2.JPGinside view of tank construction
tank3.JPGoutside view of tank
setup1.JPGthe complete setup
setup2.JPGfront view of setup
the two front corner joints are going to stay glass on glass unless after a little more inspection i feel i need to put some sort of brace, but i am hoping that it will stay as is. if any body has any questions on how i built this feel free to ask. any advice would also be welcome. i still have a bit of work to do and will be posting updates on the tank progresses. every thing u see here cost right under $180: 4 sheets of 4'x8' 3/4 ply, 13 2"x4"x8', 2 lbs of stainless steel screws, and wood glue.

Awesome. Good to see a different approach to a ply tank build.

What are you using there on the inside where the glass will be sealed in? Is that 2x2's? Im just looking at the picture and it doesnt look like 2x4's.

The build looks awesome so far!

tomorrow i will be ordering some wetsuit. but i am wondering if i should fiberglass the seems of the tank?? good idea bad idea or won't do much of anything.

between school and work i was finally able to contact triton about the wetsuit. the 2 gallon package is $225 that includes shipping. they do not have any in stock and so she said that it won't be till the 18th that it even gets shipped to me so i guess it is now time for more waiting

Reinforcing the seams depends on how much you trust your build but it will definitely help provided your sealer of choice will adhere to it.

I like the open corner design instead of just the front window design like most plywood tanks have. What are the overall dimensions and what thickness glass are you using?
