My 25G Paludarium comments love / hate?

I was getting tired of looking at pictures of flora!
Good job! Update us on the fishes and shrimps

Yeah, sorry it took so long, had to make sure everything at least seems to be growing okay before i added any residents to the tank...

But yeah, i'll keep this updated as the fish and shrimp settle in... hopefully i'll start to have a colony of super red cherries soon...
 
Hmm are you planning on having any creature that would be able to use both the land and water area?
Like a common frog or something
 
^ I did see some sort of tree frog today... although without a lid didn't want to risk it escaping... then saw pygmy chameleons... but the tank isn't really suitable...

So yeah, not really sure if i'll find something i like for the land area yet...
 
^ Thanks... it wasn't actually nearly as bad as i thought it would be to put together, albeit that there were times i was a little stuck...

over all quite a fun little project if your looking to build something different...
 
Great lookin cherry shrimp, how have they acclimated? I havent been very successful with shrimp.

Crustaceans require a longer acclimation period than standard fish do. Any sudden water temp change or parameter swing can kill them... except with most shrimp. When I get my monthly 50 ghost shrimp for tank cleaning and the Oscars to play with, I don't give them any acclimation period. Its die now or die in the morning for these little guys, and my Os will eat them live or dead. You having issues with shrimp is kinda scary.

I agree with clockworkorange on this one... i've always found cherry shrimp to be really easy to care for and breed unlike other species such as the blue shrimp, or tiger shrimp, which all require specific temps and conditions...

All i do with my cherries is put the bag in the water to get the temps the same, then after 15min, take the shrimp + original water and put into a container and add some tank water in... then another 15-30 min later i drop them in the tank...

Ghost shrimp i've never really had a problem with either, even without acclimation, although given there will always be some casualties especially if the outside temps are vastly different from tank temps..
