You could get a couple small pieces of wood and make a pretty dynamic composition also utilizing some moss. The betta will enjoy the accomodations. Mine always liked to lounge on the taller plants. Consider a dark tank background as well.

Thanks for the tips. The swords are growing strong enough for my 55g also while i am awaiting new lights for the 55g.
 
aha, makes sense :) They may outgrow your 55 as well.

i sell them off. I have actually stopped keeping most swords because of their size. I now do more stem plants and rhizome plants or crypts.
