My 3 Bowfins 3 wks ago & now...

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Wow very nice patterns. Out of 8 of mine 2 came out to look like that. The rest are just plain olive golden with red tail. Not sure if that's how you tell male and female. I'm also surprise that you keep them with the same exact fish as I also keep mine. Banka snakeheads and juvie chinse sailfin shark. Got mine at 1.5" and now at 6" in just less than a month. They eat fast and grow fast. If no food available they eat each other. That's why I only ended up with 3 left out of 8. I now have live worms in the tank so when they get hungry they just snack on the live worms. I also make sure that the live worms don't run out as they might turn to each other for source of protein.

that's tight, if u dont mind me asking, what temp and ph etc are u keeping them at?
thanks for your patience and help btw
No problem man.The temps at about 72 degrees and honestly,I very rarely check the ph or anything else in the tank besides the temp.I don't find it necessary,I have good filtration, live plants and they all look healthy so I just sit back and watch em without stress...

That's awesome man,it's such a cool stock to have and it's awesome watching them all eat together! How big are your banks?Mine are coming up on 4" and getting fat real quick...

Wow nice. As adults will they have some pattern, look different than most bowfins or impossible to say?

I have seen few young bowfins never any like that.
