Ryan the wound actually looks nice and clean. Not sure how easy it would be to catch the fire eel but you could dab some betadine on the open wound to prevent infection
Is it a heater burn?

No the heaters are in the sump, pretty impossible to catch the fire eel without dismantling the tank. I’m adding more probiotics in the hopes of trying to exclude any other pathogens plus just cleaning tank 2 a week instead of fortnightly

Salt will increase osmotic pressure, disrupt bacterial lifecycle and decrease bacterial load at 1tbsp/5gal but I’m not sure how your plants would handle that tbh mate
