Hey, nice! Looks like the start of one of those super artsy japanese type tanks. Very cool!

It's definitely an attempt at a nature aquarium. Takashi Amano... Enough said. ;)

That carpet will look awesome when it grows in! How much did you pay for all that grass, and how is it held into the gravel?

It actually started out as a single $4 pot of hairgrass about the size of silver dollar. I separated all the blades with their root systems and planted them about an inch apart. Then they took root and began spreading.
Not sure what you mean by "how is it held into the gravel?" Its actually sand in the tank and it's held in by the roots...

Im very envious of your stocklist, If you got your livestock or the hairgrass offline please do share the source. But very nice looking, I really like the tank dimensions, when I get a place my own I hope to find an odd tank like that to plant.

Thanks. I got all the fish locally, but they ship through aquabid so pm me if you want contact info. They have over a dozen species of apistogramma, laetacara dorsigera and thayeri, and a different species of dicrossus (I assume you were referring to the cichlids?).
I hate planting tall tank. Being in water up to my armpit regularly for trimming is not my cup of tea. With the scissors and stuff I have only my hand gets wet when I'm doing stuff in the tank.

Ya I just setup my 120 planted, I must admit it can be frustrating to plant. I unfortunately sloped the gravel one end to the other instead of front to back, partially to help cover some driftwood. In the end a 26" tank, with 1.5" of gravel can be challenging to plant some stem plants. Anyways I really like the combo with a short and long tank.

Another thing about this tank... It's basically on the counter between my kitchen and living room...you can see it from both sides. I can see it from my couch when I'm watching my TV and in the kitchen if I'm cooking. Definitely the most prominent tank in the house. I think it's nice when you can tie a tank in with a room instead of hiding them away in some corner of the house.

I had dwarf hairgrass fro www.aquariumplants.com and it can to my house in plastic pots. They took a good 2.5" of gravel to cover up the root system and my cichlids ate the grass within 2 days. Pretty lame. So you dont have any plant anchors in the sand?
