Also, what exposure where they grown in? I have a friend that moved an elephant ear outside and the difference in sun/shade exposure caused it to collapse, it recovered in a few weeks.

In the garden I keep them half sunny place. At nights it is around 10F here but they seem ok till now.

Sailing leaves really look great and when I stand in front of them, feel my self as the conductor of a symphony orchestra.:))
 
10 degrees F. may be to cold for them. Check there hardiness Zone, you can over winter them as house plants.

If there aren't enough nutrients in the water they will collapse too. You may need to pot them (in gravel?) and use some slow release fertilizer tablets.

2 questions...


5 feet deep, right next to the house,
Is it a slab or Pier block construction,
how did you fortify it?

and

What do you run for filtration?

#1 just about everything here in florida is on a slab..So that shouldent be a problem.....
#2 just the waterfall nothing crazy 5200g hr pump and the waterfall with some goodies in it......
