MY 4 FRY arrived today..PICS

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
When he tests his water, it will be of course ammonia-0 nitrite-0 and nitrate-0 right now, because the water is new. It's after couple days that's dangerous when the ammonia level builds up and no BB to convert it to nitrite then to nitrate.

Options would be.......

1. Barrow the old filters from your buddy or your other tanks(not from LFS, they carry dieases with it)

2. Add salt, add bottled BB liquid products to help cycle faster, and do 30% WC every 3 days to make sure the am and nitrite level isn't have enough to kill the fish until the tank cycles.

Dont worry JP they will not die and i will take care of them... and yes i have another tank running for 2 months already... u want me to switch filter bags right

YES! Then problem solved bro:D Also add gravel from the other tank into this one. DO NOT clean or wash with your tap water, that will kill the BB right off the bat. Just put them in without cleanning.

ABSOLUTELY!! That is the best bet. Do a water change on the two tanks. Take a normal amount of water out of the new tank with the Flowerhorns. Dump that (water not fish) into the toilet. Fill the new tank up with old water from the old tank. The old water has good fishy like water germs.

Add that air!

i swap the filter bags from my other fish tank

thanks JP and ORBIT giving my info.... yes i swap the filter bags and i add rocks from my other tank in the FH tank so hopfully everything will be fine.....Dnt worry JP i will keep u updated with FH.......

Filter bags would be alright. Even better to get the bio filter mesh out of the other filter. Best to switch filters entirely. If the other one has been up for 2 months already, it should have sufficient BB in the gravel and decor.

Excellent! Great idea to switch the rocks from the old tank to the new. They should have algae and bacteria thats necessary on them to help cycle too!

I think you're new Fhs will be perfectly fine and you will have some of the best Fhs available!

Congrats and keep them updated as they grow!:headbang2
