my thoughts exactly. I just don't get it. If I wanted to see stuff get torn to pieces I'd take some assault rifles to the range. I keep fish because I like fish behavior ie. breeding, growing, etc. I still have twinges of guilt over the feeders I fed my piranha. I don't even fish anymore because the last time I went I hooked one in the gills and he was going to die because I wanted to spend a "relaxing" day and see some fish. I don't know. I guess I just don't enjoy watching things suffer.
To each their own.

Hey come on, who in the world wants to just watch fish, unless theyre slowly mauling another fish to death theyre soo booring...
ME! right here. I want to just watch live fish. Call me crazy, but that's what it's about for me. If the behavior of your fish bores you, then drop the macho fish routine and get something that's interesting to you. If not get a dog or a cat.

Thumbs up (y) entertaining to toss them in every once in a while when you have some buddies over, just as long as its not a a main diet. Don't disagree with the video at. As for animal cruelty thats complete garbo, what happens in the wild, its unevitable. You can say "It's mean" or "Its unhealthy" people are not going to stop. Don't watch if you don't agree. You are just giving the person more views
Here's the thing. It's nature in nature. Your tank is not nature. You have sole responsibility for what goes on in that tank. In nature, goldfish and piranhas would never bump into one another because they exist naturally on two different continents. When you toss a GF into your piranha tank you've made a decision which gives you responsibility for the outcome. You are now responsible for that fishes demise.
Why do people comment on it? because it's being placed in a public forum. Fishkeeping is sort of a community, at least on here it is, and we police our own. We want people who are new to think about what they're doing before they do it and part of that is providing the other point of view.
Your harming both fish here which is just poor fishkeeping. The other thing is that, too me at least, it's boring. I've probably seen a million videos like this. It's just not interesting to me. Piranhas are cool fish, but so many people want them just so they can do stuff like this. It's a shame to see such an interesting niche predator reduced to providing cheap thrills for immature people. It's analogous to pit bull fighting to me. I have two bulldogs, and I can't imagine why people would want to pit them against each other. I just don't get it. Like I said in a previous post, if I want destruction I'll go destroy things. I can get my jollies without harming other innocent creatures in the process.
Is there some legitimacy to feeding live fish to your piranhas? Absolutely...but not like this.

really, no hard feelings. Matter of fact, I have no clue what you're talking about
I just thought this horse is dead ...
I made the other posts before I saw that we were trying to wrap this up. Whoops.
My 5th grade teacher use to say that I was always, "A day late, and a dollar short." Looks that way...
