My 40 Gallon, finally pictures...

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I was really excited to see a 40g long, but this isn't one! :(

Nice tank nevertheless!

Just a tip for aquascaping (I'm in to planted tanks)... IMO the best aquascaping comes from nature aquarium design ideals, and they follow three basic shapes, either

/^^\ slopes on either side and built up in the middle
/^\_/^\ slopes on either side and a space in the middle
\ or / simply built up on one side and gradually sloped down to the other side of the tank

So with your setup, it looks kind of like the first example, but since there are no slopes it cuts out the edges of the tank. If you were to build up the middle more as a slope and move the out edge decorations closer in, I think you'd be happier with it.
Or I can just keep my advice to myself. ;)

Here's an example of what I'm talking about.

didn't think there was any rules to stacking rocks, but i see what you mean.

so what your saying is, keep stacking the middle? do you have anymore examples? i really want to get rid of the pots and keep a more natural looking aquarium, but the cichlids love those pots. lol

I know what you mean with wanting to get rid of stuff that the fish are attached to:grinno: I have a dragon bubbler & some other asian-theme decor from petsmart in my 20gal. My pair of convicts have taken to breeding inside that dragon:screwy: Eventually I want to replace it all with driftwood plants & rocks, but then again...I've already got that setup in my 65 and before too long I'll have it in my 40b as well, so maybe I'll just keep my cheesy asian decor

Nice tank though:)

haha, seriously. i already want to change things up, but i don't want to keep disturbing the fish.

Yeah. I took out the fake cave that I THOUGHT they were going to breed in on my last WC, opened up the tank quite a bit. Next I'll probably remove one of the towers and might think about adding some anubias or something like that....I have a small piece of driftwood that I could take out of my 65....I dunno, too many options:p
