Thanks for the help... wouldn't the silicone just give way after being water loged...?

If silicone gave way because it was "water logged" wouldn't your tank that is sealed with silicone just fall apart after being "water logged" too? :screwy:

i would drill couple of holes and tight fit some wood dowel

Ok... ha ha ha very funny... the silicone in your tank is attached to glass, where the silicone on the "wood" is not smooth.. that was my point.
thanks anyway you got me thinking on that one.

That is not a bad idea... thanks then I could put the silicone in the holes as well as the dowels.

Ok… while I was grounded from the site… I set up my tank. First thing in the morning I went and bought my pool filter sand and came home to wash it. I placed the sand and rocks along with the wood then filled the tank.
Ok… I know I said I was going to do a planted tank, but I just didn’t have the pacents to wait. The tank was in the house and empty. So once the water temp got very close to the hex tank I took the filter sponges and media out of the 30 gallon canister filter and placed it into the new one. Then I grabbed all the plants, breeding cave, and some gravel placed into a media bag from the hex tank into the bow front. Turned the new tank on… and bam instant cycle. I took the fish out of the 30 into the new 46. The only ones that gave me the biggest problem were the clown loaches… to fast. Ha ha. Since then I have added 6 Kulie loaches and they love the pool sand. Every morning I come out and the loaches (clown, botia, and kulies) are all doing the loach dance. I am still battling the tannin problem but that should go away with a few WC.

this is at the finish set up...

I love the looks of bowfront tanks. The pool filter sand looks very nice w/ the driftwood. I think I'm missing something, what's w/ the mesh bag of gravel?

thanks for the nice words. It was a lot of fun to see the fish get used to there new home.

that is the gravel from the 30 gallon hex which they where in before this tank... The gravel had good bacteria on it so i placed it in a media bag and put it in the path of the current. It was carnie color gravel so I don't want it in there long term.

I figured that was the case after I wrote the question. It just looked odd as I knew it wasn't part of your decoration scheme.

Silly human, The WOOD gets water logged & gives way not the Silly-cone...

Glass doesn't take on water quite as bad as wood...

Hello people...
Ok as I said before about taking pics of my Kulie loaches. Well I only got 3 out of the 6. I read that in the Kulie loache family that the females are larger and more round than the smaller thiner males... well I have 1 big girl and 5 males... WOW

Well here is 2 pics of them.
