My 470 gallon reef

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
It's been a while since I have updated this thread. The tank has pretty much been running on cruise control with the help of some local friends. The tank is more than I can handle right now so I have made the decision to find a new home for the tank.

I have decided to donate the tank, equipment & livestock to the local Sertoma Club which operates a Butterfly House facility here in town. They have agreed to build a permanent exhibit to house this tank and a couple of my others for the public to be able to view and enjoy. I think that the tanks will make a great addition to the brilliant colors of the rainforest's butterflies.

WoW!!! Thats an awesome think to do!

Sure you don't want to sell it me for a couple thousand :D

actually if you don't mind i REALLY need some large tangs, just a couple.. If i could purchase some off of you that would be great. I really want some with my moray, but i need 12-14in plus. Most people can't grow tangs as big and beautiful as you have and i would really appreciate that!

That's pretty cool thing your doing. Now you can go and visit your old tank and the rest of the world can enjoy it too. I hope they gave you free admission for life and one hell of a tax write off.:D

Right now, I am worried about how they are going to handle the move just accross town. I don't think that I want to try and ship any. Sorry...

I am supposed to get a life time pass. It will be nice to see all of my tank in one exhibit area and not have to worry about doing any of the maintenance or feeding of the tanks.

To create a little excitement before the remodeling begins and the tank is moved, we set up a 210 gallon tank with African Cichlids in the lobby of the facility to draw attention to the fact that a new exhibit will coming. With the help of some of the local friends, the tank was torn down, moved and setup in an afternoon.

There wasn't much I could do other than watch, so I took a couple of pictures. I hope to go back and get a picture of the tank once the water has cleared up.
