Gents, here is me video of my 4ft tank been having these filament barbs for 4.5 yrs now(biggest one is just over 5ins) n 3 striped silver dollars Abt a yr old really enjoying this tànk anyone here keeping these ?
1.how big can filament barbs get ? Some say up to 7in some say 6in- confusing wish to know their max size.
2. Striped silver dollars seen pics of them having a lovely green sheen on body but mine very faint changed substrate recently to black sand color of all fish generally better n darker but not geeting that green sheen on striped silver dollars wonder if it's my light colour presently using pinkish type led(I tink)
Anyways thks in advance not been here for over 5 yrs so hope to be regular.
Cheers

Nice group of Filamentosa Barbs & Silver Dollars.

I currently keep a small group of four Filaments that are at least six years old. I added three juvenile Filamentosas about four months ago to the group.

The largest male is 5+ inches. The Filamentosa will show their best colors under dim lighting with darker substrate. Feeding a quality food helps to. I've never seen a seven inch Filamentosa Barb. 1000000448.jpg

Years ago I kept a group of Striped Silver Dollars, but stupidly traded them for African Cichlids.
My SD's had very vivid stripes, but didn't have any blue or green sheen to them

Hi buddy thks so much for a helpful reply ! Great you're adding some filamentosa they're a stunning fish had them now for 4.5 yrs n you're right I also don tink they're all go to 7ins bit I tink more max out around 6in(- tink I've got a biggest one at 5in+ but awesome colouras n great temperament but eating machines.Love their swimming pattern
One thing also the striped SDS THEYRE JUST GORGEOUS ! I love their swim style n body shape almost a perfect round n d stripes make them look awesome n wild looking with regards to the green/blue sheen I've seen them in pics might get a blue type led to try mine are around 3.5-4im mark I guess.
Also I just recently changed to black sand from beige sand what a difference no reflections at all and definitely colours better n darker.
Cheers bud all d best
