I'm not sure if this qualifies as a DIY setup. it looks too professional IMO ;)

how much time and money have you put in so far?
and what fish are you stocking?

great job, and congrats on an amazing looking setup!

Thank you.! I would say it took me about 1 week of my time.. But it lasted about 3 months due to being busy as hell.. The biggest part was just time. Now it is almost complete..

All the wood was free actually .. I work on custom homes that range from 8 to 40 million dollars.. I have been a big name on the island in my work so i always get compensated at the end of the jobs i do when all the left over wood is there..I know a lot of people in the construction trade here, so materials i can get..lol You guys have no idea how much these filthy rich people just waste wood on the most retarded crap.. I like to make nice things with the left over. something that will last for years and is passed down though family and friends.. Wood is special to me..

I did buy the 2x4s and that was about 70 bucks

2x4s $70
filters about $650 after shipping.
Eheim media $340
Glass $360
My friend that sets tile let me use the bucket of Laticrete. I only used about a quarter of it.. That darn 5gal can is 500 bucks if you were to buy it.. sheesh.
Epoxy enamel. about $110
40w Danner UV $200
All the glue and stainless screws were free.

So around $1700.. not bad really.. Shipping to Hawaii is brutal. The filters and media was a killer with shipping.. but oh well.:D

truely amazing build quality. Love it, looks fantastic and im glad you spent/spending time on the detail.

Now i think you can change your Profession on your CV to furniture builder/cabinet maker of 14 years and aquarium stand and fram builder of 2 years :D

Man I have thought about advertising here to build tanks for the rich homes here.. but It's a tough call on how busy I would be. It would be awesome for sure.!

WTF!!!! Thats fricken sweet! That should go into your portfolio as well. I gotta come see this thing in person. The pix with you inside really shows what a MONSTER set up this is.....you could stock this thing with reef sharks....too awesome. You know, stockly's got a gold CK right now and also a silver aro and a CK as well. I could go swimming in that thing or scuba diving.

So around $1700.. not bad really......considering that would be a $10,000 plus set up.:nilly:

Yup, we definately gotta go riding....My chop is slow around corners considering its lowered and has forward controls...good to cruise with though....

Sorry to side track guys...

Sure, its a beast! You'll have fun, it's a different feel...but your bike is a ferrarri, high performance and great on cornering. Mine substitutes that for looks and sound.

My bike = Looks Fast / Sounds Fast :D

Your Bike = Is Fast / Very Fast :naughty:

Back to fish now..... I really think you should buy a school of aro's and wait till they pair up to have a breeding pair, then sell the rest to stocky's. Or even petco ( that way you can have 2 aro's that get along in the tank and ck's and what nots). Anyhow, that up to you with what you wanna do with your indoor lake. No matter what, that beast of a tank is sweet.
