Please post your test results.
I agree that you need more filtration. Don't be afraid to try one of those water clarifiers either as they do improve your filter's ability to clean the water.;)

If this is what you have for filtration, that is the second root of the problem. An undergravel filter is suitable for small fish with small poo. Your monsters have monster size poo in monster size quantities. Your filtration needs to match your fish and their bio-load. You need at least a 20 gallon sump and a wet/dry filter with it is a good idea too. Have a look around at the different types of filters. You will need something large enough to act as a septic tank.

Here is my opinion on your fish. They sound really nice and you should post pictures. But you also should find two large nails and a hammer. Then take those pacu's outside and nail them to a tree. :D Just kidding...I'm not very fond of pacu's.

Cool bunch of fish ya got here, I'd like to see some pics of the wolf. What kinda plans you got for all those fish? Your pacus and oscar are gonna get huge. Not a big fan of Pacus myself(but don't think wasting nails on them is good idea). Well good luck with all them hope ya can find some good deals on more tanks or maybe a swimming pool.

Anyway for the time being add a emp 400 or an ac110 and do 50% water changes at least once a week should help with water cloudiness. Moving some of the fish to another tank would help too.

keep everything the same, but sell 1/2-3/4 of the fish you have

Unless you are going to upgrade, the only fish that could do OK in the 55 is the Oscar or the Dempsey if you did big water changes twice a week.

Pacu get over 2 feet long and over 30 pounds.
Blue Channels get over 3 feet long and 100 pounds.
Dempsey's are slow growers and get the same size as the Oscar.
Common plecos get well over a foot and a half and although it can like in a 55, the bioload for it would only degrade your water faster than the one cichlid does by itself.

If you like the fish you have, look into a tank that is atleast 300 gallons, but eventually the Channel may even outgrow that.
