Okay drew this up in paint (explains horrid graphics) what do you think what needs work

Seems like there is a lot of wasted space on this sump. The pumps should be all the way to the left. the water should have to flow through the carbon and zeolite to get to the pump.

Are you thinking of doing this is a 20L or what? try drawing out the flow pattern as it is now it does not look like the zeolite gets much flow.

see if this helps you any.

why the wall before the pump hybrid? would that not leave more chance for a run dry?

and do you use egg crate to hold scrubbies up off the bio rings and heater?

im looking to set up something just like this .. just wanted to have a better idea on what to do ..

It does but what about Zeolite or Carbon?
And would having a UV be in anyway a benifit?

Most hobbyist will tell you that zeolite and carbon are not essentials to every day filtering. Those you would only put in as necessary. There's no need to dedicate a specific chamber just for those two. UVs help, but I would only use one if you need it. A lot of people put them in-line with the pump.

bump for more info ..

That wall you asked about is both to put a final (polishing)sponge in - also the sediment and sludge that inevitably falls from the media cant go back into the tank
