What kind of discus you looking to get? Do some research dark substrate can result in peppering
Not sure what you mean by what kind of discus? If you mean wild versus home breed, I have located and been in touch with a local breeder and plan to add approx between 6-8 2"-3" discus.

I like the amount of effort you have put into this tank..... But i have to say, i don't understand why you have used a background like that becuase your 72g becomes a 50g (space-wise) and therefor reduces your stocking options.
Also looking at the plants in the video there seems to be a certain amount of flow which your discus will not like so much. Speaking of plants, i dont think they will adapt to being constanly in the bubble flow, they much prefer CO2 and may start to wilt. But i may be wrong.
But it's great that you decided not to use the blue substrate in the end!
Looking forward to futher progress
Thank you for the compliment. I know the tank did lose a bit of space, but overall, basing my decision on the response the starter fish are having in the tank right now, they are showing some tremendous coloration right off the bat. They truly love it.
The flow is somewhat limited to the far extreme right side of the tank. I specifically did not direct the flow from either the filter outlets or the water pump into the middle of the tank for that purpose. As far as the plants, this is my first attempt and a planted tank.
The coral was kind of just a space filler. I don't plan to keep it.
I have a piece of driftwood I am actively soaking to also put in as a final touch. (I think)

Discus Are truly not hard fish to keep. They will look very nice in that tank. Get some dwarf corys and tetras and your set.
I will look into cory's and tetra's. I have already thought about the small neon tetra's. They would def look nice.

Love everything except for that piece of coral.
Yea, I agree, it kind of sticks out. I will be removing it and replacing it with a piece of driftwood. I found one that I think will work well, but it is actively being cleaned and I have a 10 lb weight on it to help keep it submerged. That should do it for this tank.
