hopewell,va
So as the title says, this is my mainly FOWLER tank. I say mainly because I got some coarls that came with my live rock as well. This tank has been set up for about 4 months now and is doing pretty well.
Tank Specs are as follows:
Odydssea ps 75 protien skimmer( i know I need a better one but it does the job for now.
AC 110 with sponge, carbon, and phos remover( i clean the sponge weekly
2 powerheads 1 500gph/ 1 200 gph
a 300watt titanium heater
1 4' standard 20k and 2 2' standard 10K ( t-5's coming soon)

Fish are:
2" niger trigger
2" percula clown
2" purple pseudochromis
2" flame hawk
3" lawnmower blenny( who doesn't like green algae?)

Corals are:
1 colony of blue green mushrooms
1 neon green zoa
1 colony or brown and green zoa's
1 tree leather( not sure)

Last but not least pics, enjoy.

that trigger doesnt fit in lol

LOL, Thanks for the comments. The trigger is blue and will not kill the others(fingers crossed) and being that it fit thoughs criteria my wife loves it. But your right she doesn't fit in with the crowd too well. I go ther from petco for 25$, so she fits in with the wallet and wife very well.

On another note, Anyone know how to get rid of hair algae when the phos. is low and the nitrate is low( and the lawnmower will not eat it!!!) ?

Phos. is right at .002+- .001 and the nitrate is around 5ppm. Really and truely i don't mind it but i don't want it taking over.

thanks for looking,
David

I agree that the Trigger does not really fit in. It will be fine for now, but as it grows it may/will eat some other inhabitants. So be watchful, in time he will need a new home/tank.

Is the tank pretty new? Hair algae is often a phase that happens early in tanks. It is also most likely harboring all the phosphate and some/most of the nitrate. It should not take over as long as you keep the water quality up and do water changes consistently. A cleaner crew with snails/crabs/shrimp can also help.

Do you use RO/DI filtered water or tap water?

Looks like a nice tank/setup. Well done!

I dig that pic of your hawk. very cool!

THANKS, all of the fish have their own personality, but his is just great. He always begs for food and perches right in front of me when i look in the tank. As soon as we get the camera out though, he bolts all around as if to say don't take my pic.

Nonstophoops, Hopefully the trigger will not be a problem, but if she is i will trade her for something more suitable. As for now she is stuck, my wifes favorite, lol.
As for water changes, i use Ro/di only and i do a 15-20 gallon a week water change. I was hoping my lawnmower blenny would munch on some of the algae but he doesn't eat anything green. I have macro algae in the tank as well and he will only munch on it when it gets coverd in diatoms.

Thanks for the info and nice comments.

I forgot to ask, but what kind of problems should i look out for with the trigger?

also i do have about 20 hermits in their as well as 1 burrowing snail( narssia, i believe) he doesn't eat anything except left overs though.

Trigger most likely won't be a problem for a while, but I would watch for him chasing other fish and possibly nipping their fins. These things may not happen because all the fish may be smaller, but if/when he gets big enough to fit one in his mouth he may try it. I would not be concerned at this time.

With that sort of water change schedule you have nothing to worry about as far as algae taking over. Keeping the canister clean would be my main concern and it sounds like you are doing well with that as well.

It is a nice looking tank, just keep doing what you are doing and you will continue to be successful.

Awsome, thanks for the advice.
