My 75 is cleaned and empty. I just have to decide what to put in it next. I had a jag hybrid that I was very attached to, still look for him every time I go past the tank. I don't know whether to get another jag or possibly a grammode. I have always wanted a dovii, but don't have the size tank one would need. I read that grammodes are very slow growing, could I keep a jag and grammode together in a 75, till I can get another 75 to keep either the jag or grammode alone? My original thought was a geophagus tank, but the monster fish kind of get in your blood. I actually like the aggression and personality that jags and dovii have. The grammode would be as close to a dovii as I can get. Anyone know anything about grammodes? I only know what I have read on the net.

I think you would have aggression issues w/ a jag and grammodes. A 75g is too small for a jag IMO. I would stick w/ grammodes for that tank.

And your right grammodes are slow about 2 months for .5 an inch maybe 3 months for a female from what I hear and grammodes are more agressive then jags about the same as a dovii the only thing more agressive is a beani withch are rare and expensive jags get too big for a 75 also females about a foot witch arent that agressive like an 8 males 10 they get 16 inches so I would go with grammodes

I've been keeping my female for almost 2 years and she's 6 inches. They grow very slow and hide a lot. After watching them and seeing how the act with and without other fish I can tell you that they don't play nice with others. My female is kept in a 20 and loves it. She reacts to my every movement and now eats from my hand. If I put her in my larger tank she hides more and is scared of me. If you get a male then it will need a large tank just because they get ****** and thicker. If you have the time and are ok with the slow growth then you will love the payoff in the end

You are better off keeping Grammodes. Jags get too large for a 75 gallon tank. Female Jags typically grow smaller than males but I still think a larger aquarium is the best fit for their adult size, behavior, and their desire to defend a territory.

Also, jags are kind of common. I've had about 4 of them over the years. Grammodes would be different than what I have had before. Any idea about how much they cost? Also would a pair or a small group be ok in a 75, at least for a while? I love the attitude of a jag, but I think I want to try something new.

If grammodes are inclined to hide a lot, what would be best for decorations? Driftwood and plants is what I was going to use, with sand for substrate. Would they prefer caves?

At a fish store I go to they were like 13 dollars. it is hard to find them and the fish store I went to was a large fish with fish that are hard to get.
