That's how it is. The fact that you're starting to show nitrates is a good thing. If you want to try to speed things up a little, I've had good results with Tetra safestart. It's not an "instant cycle" like they claim but it helped me get through the nitrite cycle a little quicker.

I went and bought some of that stuff today. Wow $23 after tax for that stuff. It better work! Ha. I poured it in about an hour ago. Hopefully it will do some damage to the nitrites. I really want some RBPs sooooon.

Update. My tank has been up and running for 18 days now... Like mentioned before. Ammonia is well under control. My Nitrites spiked and went from 0ppm to 5ppm+ literally overnight 8 days ago and have stayed at 5ppm+ ever since. I put that safe start in 2 days ago and it did nothing at all. :( $23 down the drain. I was hoping it was help a LITTLE but it literally didn't make any difference. Bummer. Lesson learned I guess. I really wish this tank would hurry up and get cycled. Anyway here's the latest water I took as of 10 min ago, 18 days into my cycle. (ammonia has been under control over a week ago so I didn't bother showing it again)

You're doing it right my friend. Your patience and diligence will come to fruition soon!

Ive been reading on a couple random websites that if you have too much Nitrites it will stall the cycle? Is this true? Would you guys recommend me doing a small WC, around 20% or less?

Sorry you wasted your money, I was hoping it would work for you like it did for me. Doing a small water change wont hurt but it probably wont help either. Unfortunately it could take a couple weeks for nitrites to go away. A full fishless cycle can take anywhere from 4-6 weeks.

I went ahead and did just a small WC. It was little less then 20% I'd say. Hard to tell.. Ha. Filled it back up, put right amount of stress coat in. Waited a few minutes and turned the filter back on. Waited about 30min and did a nitrite test... Still 5.0ppm+. Damn. :/ Apparently that didn't do anything. Haha. I'll just let it keep doing its thing and keep checking every day. I'll keep you guys updated as well.
