There are a few mixed juvies that managed to survive from hanging around as well. I plan to get an syn catfish to put a stop to that soon.

Wow, surprised no one has commented yet. Beautiful tanks, although I'm afraid I have to say I like the rocks in the first pics best. The second type of rocks are nice and show off the cichlids colours more, but it just looks a tad too clean and perfect. I know, sounds weird, cause I usually like that look too. Either way, both look really cool. Where did you get the newer rocks from? I'm going to be getting a 120g soon and I'm thinking about doing the same kind of thing.

thanks.

with the new rocks i am trying to for a more natural rift lake look. most of the pictures i have seen of rift lake bottoms are large smooth rocks. it will look different in a few months when it gets some algae growth.

i got the rocks at a local stone yard. $0.15 a pound. compared that to $2-3 a pound at the local fish store, lol.

cleaned out all the hybrid babies when i changed out the rocks.
