scratch the oscar and everything else. my parents are threatening bodily harm if i dont get the EBJD's...... so any ideas on what i can keep with them. my tank has tons of nooks and crannies for hiding by the way.

get some more mild manner cichlids and make a big community tank keyholes, festivums, pictus cats and push it to the limit with a school of silver dollars.

skeeb211, since you are pretty much going with the EBJD's then you need to build the other tankmates around them. They are very sensitive to parasites, die easily, and are slow growing. First you have to find healthy good quality EBJD's to start with. I would get a group of 5 and keep them and a couple of bristlenose plecos for a few months. Eventually you will probably have to sell off 3 of the EBJD's if all of them live but that is unlikely. Once they get to 3.5-4.5" which will take some time then look into adding tankmates. Once EBJD's are a decent size they are not that wimpy and can be kept with a variety of tankmates. I keep mine with anything from Geophagus Steiny's to some of the larger Vieja's. In a 75g a pair of EBJD's and a group of 6 steiny's would be a pretty good looking tank and mix of fish. At least in my opinion. Everyones tastes are a little different though.

If you do the ebjd, you should wait to get other tankmate, they are known to get internal parasites and can be easily stress, and die. you could try a couple keyholes, if you are dying to put something with them at first. Or what you could do is a pair of BGJD, so then you can have your own EBJD:D once they breed, that is what i am doing, plus i am super picky about my EBJD.

A breeding pair of convicts would terrorize a tank that size with that many tank mates. Cons are very tough fish. EBJDs can't hang with those guys.
^I agree

Correct me if I am wrong, but you are not looking to breed ebjd's? If so, then I wouldn't worry about getting bgjd's and what not. jgentry had the best suggestion I think. Once the ebjd's have some good size, then just play the mix n match game to see what works out and what you like the looks of.
