that's just a suggestion becuz frm my perspective it's stressfull for the fish.. but i thnk ure right .. im using a powerhead as well but i block out the current tube and flow it into another filter .. it works for me, water is clean :)
 
Some of my Cichlids love to stay next to my 550 GPH Suction Intake. I thought they were stuck but when I got close to them they swim away from it. They lay right on the screen for the full effect?
 
Haha Africans are the best. Most personality of any fish I've seen. Hey maybe a fan directly on them for them to swim against might even be some good exercise for them to keep aggression low. That's if they like it like how you say yours have been livin it.

But hey if your fish like it, and are use to it, don't worry bout it. And nice dimediochromis! I have one just like him! But my red empress chases him a lot..

I've had mine well over 5 years now and he's become the clear alpha male in the tank. Your avatar picture is gorgeous but I'm sure it does your fish no justice!

Your tank looks good. I bet the fish enjoy the treadmill. Burn those calories.
 
Nice fish. I did the same thing with the power-heads. If they want to rest the can swim in a cave and take a break. I think it keeps the aggression down. I doesn't stop it , only kinda muted instead.
