eel like smelly foods, you can feed her(I assume this is a female as only female go up stream and male stay in the brackish water) shrimps, frozen shad, dead fish, dried krill, even pellet. Female American eel can reach 4ft long in captivity(I think it will easily reach 3.5' as the two at the Cabela's near me grow to that size but they been stop eating and go hide all the time).
