In this thread I will be keeping track of the Amphilophus Hogaboomorum that I got from DMD123 DMD123

He will be living in a 6ft 125gallon. Atm there are 13 Red Eye tetras and a male Apisto.

Filtration is 2x Aquaclear 110's, Ehiem heater and airpump.

He sulked for about five minutes then started exploring

He got a couple bombs along the way that should heal up fine in time.

Jexnell Jexnell , was nice to meet you and Casper. Glad the Hoga got a nice home. Still cant believe he was 8”... I swore it was only 6. But I always underestimate fish sizes.

Without your hoga in the 300 the dominant one is a total tool with the other hoga. Strangely the hoga only chases the other hoga. It doesn’t go after the 6” Petsmart red devil at all.

Looking forward to your picture updates.

Nice pick up! Hogaboomorum is a one of my favorite amphilophus species because it seems unique from the others in body shape. Used to have a jumbo male who lived in a 125 with some other cichlids, and was surprisingly pretty mellow towards them.
Will watch and see how your guy grows!

First time I even heard of hoga was when I stumbled on a youtuber's channel that had one named hulk. Ever since then I've really liked the fish, but it doesn't seem like a lot of people have them. I can't wait to see how this one turns out.

Jexnell Jexnell , How is Mr. Hoga doing? Scrapes starting to heal up?

Indeed the two spots on his head are nearly gone, the rips in the pectoral fins have almost healed out to the edge. Will post pics tonight after it gets dark.
