I do like the previous look a lot to though, makes the tank look more open. Not really sure what I like best.

It's a stunning tank, no doubt about it. I prefer the new planted look. Because you have mainly midwater swimmers and no big catfish, the plants are not a problem.

Funny thing is though rider, for some reason your tank looks smaller than DMACK's tank, though it is in fact bigger. Maybe it's the angle/distance of the shots.
