looks like he is being responsible and doing a fishless cycle
I would have a huge fight with the family if I spent all that money and they only watched me put ammonia in the tank for four to six weeks. I slowly stepped it up with little fish(zebra danios) and when the ammonia dropped I went down to my lfs for nitrite test and they had ADFrogs for cheap($0.50) so I got four.

Sorry to derail but how do you go about resealing it, i've had to reseal two tanks but for some reason i feel like every day is the day they pop and spill my fish everywhere.

To bad about that 20.

When I pick up used tanks I always replace the silicone regardless of whether or not the owner claims it holds water. Better to put in the effort of resealing, then to find out the hard way sometime down the road.;)

Cut out all the silicone on the inside of the aquarium with a few razer blades and rinse the inside with the isopropyl alcohol, let dry. Use a 100% silicone aquarium sealant. I used a circular 'wax' motion to get it in the edges good. I've seen on tank builds that you can use masking tape to keep the silicone nice and neat.

congrats man nice progress.

Just a quick note. post #1 and #8 show that the 20 gallon (I think my visions blurry at the moment) is not supported on the right side.... Its sitting on a dresser of some sort. Id recommend against that.

that is my ten gallon. I was told by petco and other places online that tens are the max to do that with and also my dresser/night stand are real wood and can hold far more weight then those tanks

Petco doesn't really have a vested interest in your furniture... (Nor do I) However I had a 15 gallon crack from being placed on furniture that was semi even. Having an end hanging is asking for trouble imo.

Just trying to give ya a heads up.

what'cha thinking about putting in the other 55? i can't wait for updates on this project of yours.
