My Arapaima Farm tell me what you think

Hello, everyone. Sorry about the lack of posting... it's crazy in Iquitos. But I should be back in Lima, very soon!

The manatees are doing much better, they're getting healthier, and they're gaining weight. We will have a meeting with some reps from different South American countries, environmentalists, and biologists, to look at them and decide what to do. Unfortunately, I'm returning to Lima later today, and I will not be at the meeting with them......

But they're in good hands, and I'll be certain to keep you posted! When I get to Lima, I promise to post tons of pictures! See ya when I get there!

Apistomaster, thanks for the pictures, next time could you post them in another format, like upload them so we could view them with easy? This is a great thread, and I've really enjoyed it.

Thanks Zoodiver, Matt for your concern, protecting the forum, as well as helping with conservation and preservation efforts. Glad your experience is present here.

Wow, just spent some time reading this whole thread, its really cool. I understand how some people are real cautious with environmental issues. I myself promote conservation but I would raise a few issues. Being an American here in the United States like Apistomaster stated, we're actually one of the biggest contributing factors leading to the deforestation and habitat destruction around the world. We're the leading consumer in the world, and China will be next. With all the amenities we enjoy in this country, much of it is at the expense of the 3rd world countries.

But without the consumer for food fish, ornamental fish, it would also lead to other problems. As the world population grows, the demand for food, shelter and other material naturally increases. The ornamental fish industry actually has given many jobs to these people. Of course on the flip side, the exporters are making a huge profit compared to what the "fisherman" are making.

With all this said, there is no real solution, everyone should have an open mind when it comes to this subject. There is no perfect answer or solution.
