Every Archer that I've owned in the past I have eventually got to spit, usually without much trouble. Try and get some Sera Raffy L (you should be able to find this easily in any aquarium or petshop, its a food mix for reptiles, consists of dried insects etc.), grab a few pieces, wet in the tank water and stick to the glass above the water level. You should easily have him spitting in no time.

:iagree:
Some archers catch on easier then others, but they never lose the instinct to spit, they just need some persuasion. Starve them for a little while and he should start to spit at whatever you offer him.

Like the dragon goby you have in your 75 - they are brackish.

Best way to get them to spit, as it's already been said - take a piece of krill or dried cricket and stick it to the glass.

Now, to improve on that, don't feed him for a night - let him get hungry - then lower the water level so he can't jump for it (no more than 3-4" will be fine).

You'll have him shooting in no time.

Yea basically I just put a piece of rope across- I guess I was lucky mine started spiting like straight away; I've got another vid of them jumping- I'll look out the pic I have of the rope going across; basically just pop the cricket on the rope and close the lid and they will start spitting for it; is awesome to watch! lol
I think most archers will spit if hungry enough; even if not at first; I've heard of Archers getting lazy when they're 'hand fed' lol
Make him work for it! :D

Don't be afraid to let it starve for a few days if you have too. It should be alright for a week or more without food and eventually it will attempt to get the food. They would never lets themselves starve to death when there is food being offered.
