Yeah I wouldnt be keeping a high classed fish like a armatus with a native fish I could get out of my backyard pond, even with a Divider..... But I know what your saying, Ive never had any problems with fish intill I got my Armatus. started off with 2. the more aggressive one beats up on the other so I go to sell the other one and the one I was going to sell bit the more aggressive one and kills him. so Im down like $250 not even talking about them getting shipped in with Ick. so I have this beat up armatus and he finaly gets better and my stingray was swimming up the wall hits the armatus with his barb and gave him a nasty cut. It just healed up 3 weeks later but has a big scare on his back now. and just afew mins ago I went to see how my new royal ck is doing and I see that my Armatus just got bit in the back by my AGTF. sooo If anyones reading this and is going to get one I would have to say keep him solo, and keep the tank extreamly clean. thos e who have one or has have one, hats off to you!
It works with piranhas b/cs there fins regrow faster than anyother fish. I think it would stress out the armatus and even trying to net them they will almost kill themselfd to get out of the way of the net.
and I think he was talking about the bass being ugly.
Lol no offense to you and what you like but LMB is just fugly.I don't know how the other poster thought I could possibly be referring to the armatus....My armatus has had torn fins from fighting with my big ST and they have healed fully. It has also suffered from bruised snouts from bashing the glass when it was younger and smaller but it is older and more calm now....I agree with one previous comment, armatus to not like to be netted and disturbed...everyone I have had has always reacted violently ,to their own detriment ,when netted.
havs your armatus experience a part of fin completely ripped off? Now my armatus tail looks like a shark tail where the top tail part is bigger and slightly longer than the bottom part. The tail also has a jagged edging now. Will that go away?

You'll be fine just don't stress him out. Ive had payara with frayed fins grow right back into shape with proper waterchanges and care, not all payara have trident tails nor does it look that great either IMO. Best ive seen were slightly tattered like a pirate flag. Gives them that "im a badass' look haha

I've had frayed fin with my armatus that healed back 100%. The problem is, the frays widened this time from fin rot or something and a small chunk of the tail just disappeared overnight.
the nicks located in the anal fin hasn never grow back.
