lmAoo although i get HIGH often and like to watch my arowana while high. it doesnt mean im trippin. lol the gills r always like that, its not the breathing motion, it just stays like that.

oh lol! if thats the case its me whos tripping then lol!
thats odd for a 5inch aro to already have signs of gill curling...

anyway this is a warning to u that the water isnt really good.
focus on keeping ur water params intact and get lots of o2 and water movement. power heads at both ends of the tank will help!

The key here is to keep up with your water changes! Especially now that you've noticed signs of gill curl, I would recomend at least either 2 50% or 3 25% water changes a week untill this is cleared up, and make sure to keep checking and changing your water periodically well after it clears (lets all hope it does.) Just because the water is clear doesn't mean it's clean... good luck!

what else can i do besides water changes that can help my aro's gills?!
There isn't much you can do, this isn't something that medicine can help... I've heard of messaging it down with your thumb (though sorry I don't actually have experience in doing so) since your aro is still so tiny you most likely wouldn't need to sedate it. You just rub your thumb back and forth over the gill plate to try and flatten it back down... if this doesn't work and it gets worse the only other option is either live with it, or you can do surgery... Again I don't have experience with this but I have read threads on in, in fact i think Koji wrote one on it.. you might want to ask him about the process. Essentially you sedate your fish and with some really sharp medical sheers you snip away the deformed portion of the kill.
