My Arowana Finally Ate After 6 Week Fast

is it a silver aro thing? my leis will eat anything including algae waffers pumpkin and cucumber my poor plecs

i think the silvers are more prone to it.. they are moody.. and show this behavior more often .. mine was eating everything prior to this.. he loved algae wafers too.. which is a little unusual.. But yours is really something to hear he eats pumpkin.. haha and cucumbers.. mine would have spit them out..

thanks My last Arow did fast for about a month.. and then he bounced back.. but this one is still going to keep me nervous until he is back to normal... but i am so happy he at least showed me he is eating something..

One thing I do when my aros start a hunger strike is to stop offering food. When they wont eat then I only offer food once a week. Then if they do take the food. I'll wait a few days before feeding again. This seems to work, may be coincidence though, longest strike I've experienced is less then 5 weeks.

when we moved my red wouldnt eat for 2 months...he finally gave in and ate a piece of shrimp then wouldnt eat again....now i have given in and he is on feeders now and will take shrimp every couple of weeks

Did you ever have all of them fast at once......... i would be a wreck... well what ever works for you.. i was just so nervous this time.. he really refused everything i offered and did not even flinch at the live food either.. i know it is good to stay calm and confident.. but it is also difficult..

Mine has never eaten live.. so that was my last attempt to break the fast.. but he has no interest in live food.. i just hope he continues to eat now.. thanks.

Ya I had two silvers fasting at the same time. I treated the tank with melafix for something and that seemed to prompt them to go without eating.

That's awesome Liz I feel for you I remember how you helped me get through my silver not eating. You really go crazy when they wont eat glad its over.
