My arowana is always hiding

Hello, I got a baby silver arowana a week ago and he is always hiding behinds the filter and gets scared when someone walks by. He is eating well and he is alone in the tank other then a pleco(planning on getting more fish just didn't decide which will be best to put with an arowana). Also the tank is a temporary 30 gallon tank, planning to get a bigger one.

Thanks for replying. The lights are always off, and there are hiding spots but they are just at the bottom. I will get floating plants, thanks for the advice.

As long as it's eating it should be fine.

Most new arowanas are skittish. Takes a while and a lot of size to settle down from what I’ve read.

100% from my experiences. But they grow fast!

Young Arowana, young cichlids like dovii and other Parachromis normally thought of as aggressive, and any other young fishs are prime prey for birds when young, everything from king fiishers, to cormorants, to eagles eat them.
Their instinct tells them to be shy if they want to live.
And this instinct does not go away because they are in a tank, any shadow threatens danger
