My Arowanas & Tankmates Video.

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Good video!! Your Arowanas seem like they have not got any drop eye as well.

Absolutely beautiful fish. And that bold choice of red-color floor looks unique too.

I have a few noob questions (Just questions from a new-comer, please don't start a flame war):

  1. Doesn't this tank look overstocked?
  2. Don't the Oscars seem really stressed?
  3. And isn't it a bad idea to keep Snakeheads in a community tank?
I don't presume to know more than the OP who is probably a lot more experienced at this than I am. But at a cursory review, the number and the species in that tank seems to go against some of the advice I read on MFK.

Cheers,
Sid

My fishes and oscar are all doing fine in aquarium. My snakeheads and all my fishes are fed daily and they dont bother each other living peacefully.I keep fish base on my experience and dont go by the book like how many fish must be keep in a particular size aquarium or how others keep them.Anyway this is not their permanent home.
To me good water management and filtration is important. Thanks .

Thanks for the reply ernest.

I have my heart set on a beautiful Channa sp. Assam. All my "research" (and others at MFK) suggested keeping them with my Silver Aro and Florida Gars is a bad idea.

Besides temperament/aggression issues, Silver Aro are best kept in bare-bottom tanks while Snakeheads need a lot of "cover" (plants, real or not) to hide when stressed.

I wonder if you have any special advice to help me keep a Channa sp. assam (around 5 inches) happy with a (docile) 1ft Silver Aro and a couple of 6 inch Florida Gars.

Cheers,
Sid

I have never kept a Channa sp assam before, judgjing by size at 5inches i guess it should be safe against a 1ft silver and the gars.
