My attempt to make a 'nice' algae scrubber

wow, think of how all that Algae is keeping global warming at bay :)

I have been thinking about this too since I read santa monicas post on some other forum way back.

I had a fuge on my 180... ehh.. nasty swamp looking thing.

And now I tried another idea out there somewhere, fuge with duckweed. Big mistake. lol more Nasty fuge looking thing.

I want to build a rotating algae wheel. I would like to incorporate it into my DIY wet dry... Just need to find some room....

The reason I went with a algae scrubber instead of a refugium is maily because of the small space it takes up. The other reason though is the algae grows so easily and is guaranteed to not only flourish but to do exactly what you want it to do. If the plants use up all of the minerals and start dying that would suck. But if the algae does that I don't care. The way I see it its nothing but a win win situation with algae.
