woke up this morning to find my auranti 12 feet away from the tank at the back door of my house! no idea how long he'd been there for but he was still alive so i guess not long. i've got him back in the tank and he's moved around a bit but doesn't look good. fingers crossed!

can't work out how he got there as the lid which is 4 different parts are all weighted down and there's no sign of any of the lid parts being moved! couldn't believe the size of him out of the tank, he's huge! must be a good 16 inches and 3 inches! i'd be heartbroken if i lost him.

update: he's started swimming around fine now but his eyes are both cloudy. let's hope he makes a speedy recovery

wow. My mum has said numerous time she has found my auranti talking walks around the house. Hopefully he won't do it again.

he seems fine. i find it bizarre how clearly by the direct trail of water from the tank he was taking a walk to the back door which i'd left open after getting up about 3 hours earlier in the night to let the dog out and then in my hungover and half asleep state i obviously forgot to shut it after the dog came back in. thank god i closed the door between the living room and the room the fish tank is or the dog would've found it!

also lucky there's a big step at the back door which he clearly couldn't get up or he'd be off round the garden somewhere!

hahaha that is lucky. My dog just looks at the auranti and runs away. She's scared of her own shadow tho.

the eye is the most important, coz the eye doesn't grow back when damaged, keep the water clean to avoid any infections

it's clearing quickly and the water is always clean. dosed up with melafix to give it a helping hand.
