Couldn't tell you what other programs there are for free. It's a hard program to learn I've just taught myself how to use it over the last 5 years. There are a lot of good tutorial sites to learn from if you do want to get into it though. You can buy photoshop at most anywhere that sells software for like $100-$200 or learn to use torrent sites
