well update on the pair
female decided to abandon the pit in the last picture, started digging another pit under the leaves
the male for some reason gave up on digging and got himself comfortable within the swords while the female did all the work
then the female cleared the leaves off the top of the pit and began digging another one in the back of the tank
and then i get back from dinner and she's back to making the second pit deeper
at the very least they're still preparing for fry so that's always good
they're gonna have a fun time defending their fry from the mosquitofish lol

Got eggs yet?
I got a male for my girl on the 14th. Eggs by the 21st
The eggs are the spots covering the inside of the cave.

no eggs yet, they found a new more strategic spot for defending fry
they dug a pit inbetween two rocks that form a sort of angle, so that defends them on two sides, and then the female pushed a leaf over the top so they have their own little makeshift cave
and the opening is facing the wall of the tank in a corner so it's hard for anything to get in there other than the pair
I expect eggs within the next few days, hoping it goes well
