hi all, started a thread like this for my tig so thought I’d do the same for these little beasties :) I have just got 3 juvenile azul p.bass. They’re around 2-3” atm and very camera shy! 1 of them has a lumpy stomach and is smaller that the other 2 so I’m treating for parasitic worms, here’s the best pic I can get for now, the smaller 1 has a pellet stuffed in his mouth for he picture lol

Quick update, the smaller 1 got super skinny to the point I didn’t think he would make it but I noticed his belly allways seemed full. I’ve treated for parasitic works and he seems to be putting weight on now so fingers crossed!

I’ve got a couple of questions for you cichla experts out there, are these actually Azul peacocks as they’re starting to get some red on their tails? And if they are what size does the blue on their fins start to develop? TIA

I am 90% sure they are Azuls! All pb will probably develop some blue or red colors on the fins and tail, which is enhanced by our aquarium lights. My azuls started to get blue tones at around 15-16 cm

They was only around 2” when I got them so they’ve grown at least half an inch already! Such fun fish to keep I can see why people get hooked on them (no pun intended ;))

Still can’t get good pics as they scatter as soon as I point the phone at the tank! I managed to get this 1 that shows their colour a bit better, they are around the 4-5” mark at the moment and showing a lot more social behaviour, the smaller one is still bit of an outcast and the other 2 battle over dominance now and then but overall everything is peaceful

Wow. Nice that you got them eating pellets already. That’s a plus for sure.
Agreed, they are off to a great start in eating pellets do soon.Perhaps adding some active yet non aggressive dither fish could help them become less skittish.
